Heat Affected Zone Free Cutting
Industry: High Alloy Material Design and Manufacturing
In technology intensive industrial applications, special alloy materials are often necessary to provide increased structural integrity to machines or final products. When components are cut using torches, or even machined, the thermal cutting process leaves a Heat Affected Zone that decreases the overall strength of the material. Within the Heat Affected Zone, stress cracks and hairline fractures form, then migrate into the plate. This weakens the product and decreases the useful lifecycle of highly expensive materials, which can lead to machine failure. The affected zone also becomes hard and brittle, which makes any required machining difficult, and sometimes even impossible.
Precision Hydrojet uses the non-thermal Waterjet cutting process, thus eliminating the Heat Affected Zone and increasing the lifespan of components built with high alloy materials such as 4130, 4140, Quenched and Tempered Plate, Armour Plate, Chromium Carbide, Overlay Plate, and more. We have cut diverse alloys for all types of highly demanding customers from technology intensive equipment manufacturers to the Department of Defence. Our discretion is complete as is our professionalism. Contact us today to eliminate the Heat Affected Zone from your specialized alloy components.
